Butler's Wharf

36 Shad Thames, London, SE1 2YE

The large warehouse was completed in 1873 and designed by James Tolley and Daniel Dale. At the time, it was the latest in industrial design, featuring fireproof floors, brick-vaulted basements and wrought iron roof trusses. During the 1970s, Butler's Wharf was home to artists' studios and artisan workshops. In the 1980s (the exact year of trasformation is unknown) it was converted into loft apartments and restaurants.
